Thanks to the generous support of the Rano Community Trust, we’ve been able to enhance our maternity services with the addition of three Cardiotocography (CTG) machines.

These machines are a vital tool in monitoring fetal heart rate and uterine contractions during labor, providing real-time data that helps our clinicians detect signs of fetal distress or complications early. This technology plays a crucial role in ensuring safer childbirth experiences, ultimately making a significant difference for mothers, babies, and families at our hospital.
With almost 10,000 babies born annually at Middlemore Hospital, Counties Manukau has the highest number of birthing women in New Zealand. This makes the ability to respond quickly and effectively during labor even more important, and these new CTG machines will support our dedicated team in doing just that.
A huge thank you to the Rano Community Trust for helping us deliver the best possible care, right from the start of life.
