Thanks to the incredible generosity of our donors, over 1,000 of South Auckland’s tamariki who are sick or living with long term health conditions and their families now have presents, delicious Christmas food parcels, and - most importantly - the Kidz First Community Team is equipped to support whaanau throughout the year!
Three weeks of Christmas magic: We kicked things off by delivering toys, food
boxes, and vouchers to tamariki in the wards and families with little ones in
Middlemore’s Neonatal Unit. At the same time, the amazing Kidz First Community
Team brought Christmas joy to children with acute health conditions right to their
homes. It's not over yet, with special visitors popping into Kidz First Hospital until Christmas day when Santa himself will come along.
The Kidz First Community Christmas Joy Frenzy
This year’s Community Christmas celebration was bigger and better than ever! 320 tamariki and their whaanau enjoyed a day of festive fun. They did zumba, danced with the energetic Mahi Pai dancers, played with their favorite cartoon characters, savoured sizzling sausages from Beard Bros BBQ and indulged in real fruit ice cream, and, of course, hung out with Father Christmas himself! But most importantly, these incredible kids were celebrated as the stars of their own Christmas.
Together with Dave Letele, we are so heartened by the support from our donors. Corporate support has been particularly heartening this year, and we are grateful to Z Energy NZ, Beard Brothers' rob beard, AIS Global Group, Life Church, Papatoetoe Seventh Day Adventist Church, Aroa Biosurgery Limited, Mace Foundation, Fisher & Paykel Healthcare Foundation, Kerry Logistics Oceania, Rotary Clubs and Freemasons as well as schools across Auckland – have been joined this year by Foodstuffs North Island Limited, MediaWorks NZ, DHL Express, Westpac, and Fonterra. Our magical party for our community patients was equipped with help from Cubro, Serato, Lowie Recruitment's Santa, and entertained by Mahi Pai and Zumba with JAZAM.
From all of us at Middlemore Foundation and Kidz First, thank you to our donors for your generosity. You’ve made this Christmas unforgettable for these deserving tamariki and their whaanau - and ensured they will continue to receive support all year round.
