Celebrating Highbrook Rotary Club's Generosity

Highbrook Rotary Club is a local club full of wonderful people who share a passion for community service. Since forming in 2013, this amazing club have donated close to $100,000 to Middlemore Foundation to purchase equipment and in support of Kidz First, NICU and COVID-19 initiatives. Plus they always in participate in Jammies for June to warm up winter for our tamariki. The Club hosts an Annual Fun Run, popular within their local business community which stretches into East Tamaki and surrounds. The proceeds from this awesome event support much-needed projects at Middlemore Hospital.

This week, we were thrilled to host Highbrook Rotary this week to celebrate their two latest projects. Emergency Resuscitation Trolleys for our Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) and Refurbishing Middlemore Hospital's Outdoor Staff Cafeteria.

Emergency Resuscitation Trolleys for NICU

A resuscitation trolley, also known as a crash cart, is a mobile unit equipped with all necessary resuscitation tools, enabling healthcare providers to respond swiftly to emergencies. These trolleys typically include equipment such as oxygen cylinders, defibrillators, and suction units. Highbrook Rotary generously funded the purchase of nine emergency resuscitation trolleys designed specifically for newborns in our NICU. The new trolleys, designed by our Neonatal Team and resuscitation experts, are strategically placed throughout the hospital. They are clearly labeled and identically organised, allowing NICU staff to quickly locate necessary equipment no matter where in the hospital they are, ensuring that the medical team can respond swiftly and accurately in critical situations.

Staff Outdoor Seating Area

Highbrook Rotary has also transformed our outdoor staff cafeteria area by installing new picnic tables that can seat up to 70 staff members in a weatherproofed environment. This area, used daily by hospital staff ranging from orderlies to doctors, provides a comfortable space for staff to relax and recharge during their breaks. With the club’s funding, new tables and seating have created a popular environment for staff breaks.

Thank you Highbrook Rotary

Thank you to our wonderful friends at Highbrook Rotary Club for your ongoing support and generosity. Your contributions have significantly enhanced our capabilities and improved the well-being of both our patients and staff. The emergency resuscitation trolleys will ensure our tiniest patients receive the critical care they need, and the refurbished outdoor seating area has transformed lunch breaks for our dedicated staff.

We look forward to the next Fun Run!
