The Burn Support Group Charitable Trust has generously donated essential furniture to the National Burn Centre at Middlemore Hospital, enhancing care for patients with significant burn injuries and their whaanau. This contribution supports the Centre's commitment to patient-focused, whaanau-centered care, ensuring comfort and well-being during challenging times.
Key items donated include:
6 soft beds: These multi-functional beds serve dual purposes. During the day, they fold into compact chairs, saving space in the hospital rooms. At night, they unfold into comfortable beds, allowing family members to stay overnight and provide support for their loved ones. With the National Burn Centre housing four High Dependency Unit (HDU) rooms and two single rooms for critical care, these beds will ensure whaanau can remain close, offering emotional and physical support.
3 soft reclining chairs: Designed for versatility, these chairs provide comfort for patients as they begin to mobilize after their injuries. They also offer a cosy seating option for whaanau during long visits. With the ability to elevate legs, the chairs promote circulation and relaxation, contributing to recovery.
Charge Nurse Manager, Vina Singh, expressed her gratitude on behalf of the National Burn Centre patients and families. “ Our patients are often with us for many weeks after their injuries. Being able to provide patients and families with these sofa beds and chairs, helps to make their stay more comfortable and less stressful.”
